About Me

My name is Abigail Bjorkman, and I am a dance artist who is continually learning how movement can reflect honesty, faith, and the complexity of the human experience. I grew up training in multiple styles: ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and contemporary, and each one has shaped the way I move, think, and communicate. My love for dance has always been intertwined with my desire to connect with others, to listen deeply, and to create space where people feel seen and supported. As I continue to grow as a performer and teacher, I want my work to reflect the values that matter most to me: compassion, authenticity, curiosity, and the quiet ways God works in and through our lives.

Artistic Identity & Background

As an artist, I am drawn to storytelling through movement, stories of vulnerability, resilience, hope, and faith. My work is grounded in texture, emotional depth, musical sensitivity, and an ongoing exploration of how the body can communicate the things words cannot. I am particularly inspired by the intersection of dance and spirituality: how movement can become a form of prayer, reflection, or release. My background in both performance and choreography pushes me to keep asking questions, to approach each process with openness, and to remain committed to growing not only technically, but also creatively and personally. Dance, for me, is a place where I can express truth, invite others into a shared experience, and honor the calling God has placed on my life.

Teaching Philosophy & Creative Values

As a teacher, my goal is to build a learning environment rooted in care, clarity, and encouragement. I believe that every dancer deserves a space where they can explore movement safely, confidently, and authentically. I strive to teach in a way that supports the whole person, not just the technique, but the heart, the mind, and the spirit behind the movement. I value process over perfection, growth over comparison, and honesty over performance. I want my classes to feel like a community where dancers learn how to trust their bodies, listen to the music, take creative risks, and express who they are without fear. Above all else, I want my teaching and choreography to reflect God’s love, creativity, and grace, allowing Him to speak through the work in ways that invite beauty, truth, and connection.
